I think there is some wisdom in the teachings of Buddhism and mindfulness meditation. Although you shouldn't become obsessed with it that you neglect your daily living like work and settling accounts. Thoughts drip into the subconscious like droplets of water on a surface of water or like clouds floating past. The key to peace is to not get fixated with them but maybe let go and observe and try to understand them. There are many man made Gods and man made holy books made to order from the rulers of their day but that is all they are they are man made. Extreme religions, politics and even nationalism create a fixation on an idea or thought which can lead to war with opposing ideas or any idea contrary to it. Experts in the mind and neuroscience now admit that there might be some truth in the meditation teachings etc of past masters.
